Chubb Security Invests R20 million software upgrade in their Monitoring Business

Chubb Security South Africa (SA), one of South Africa’s leading security organisations, has invested R20 million upgrading their monitoring systems in their Monitoring Centres. The company is in the final phase of the deployment of the MASterMind monitoring platform from their current infrastructure. The new platform will be going live during the first quarter of 2009.

“Chubb Security is the first company in South Africa to implement MASterMind software from General Electric,” said Stefan Oberholtzer, group managing director of Chubb Security South Africa.

“MASterMind is a sophisticated system, with robust redundancy and scalability which will enable Chubb Security to increase its customer satisfaction levels through the application of leading edge technology,” Oberholtzer said.

MASterMind enhances the ability to effectively monitor and dispatch response officers with added functionality e.g. Web software offerings that bring customers a best-in-class solution for integrating their security monitoring business requirements using one platform.

It reflects feedback from GE Security’s MASterMind customers who played a significant role in identifying the most important tools and features to be incorporated to meet specific security monitoring needs.

“Our Monitoring Centre operators can deal with our client’s emergencies faster and more effectively – as all the information required to make the best decisions is available on a single screen,” said Oberholtzer.

“A good example would be that subsequent signals are identified by the system before they reach an operator,” said Oberholtzer.

“Subsequent alarms from the same premises usually indicate trouble, and will reach the operator as an escalated signal with a high priority coloured red – for snapshot identification of positive incidents.

“MASterMind utilises the most sophisticated operator dispatch system available. All events that involve an account are given to a Chubb operator on a single dispatch screen and our trained staff are prompted through the entire dispatch sequence. Pertinent information needed to process an alarm is selected from multiple files and is concisely disclosed, which speeds resolution and reduces human errors through misinterpretation,” confirmed Oberholtzer.

“MASterMind Monitoring provides security and monitoring personnel an advanced set of tools based upon the latest developments in information technology,” said Oberholtzer.

MASterMind has a Voice Response Terminal (VRT) system which allows touch-tone telephone access to the central station database. “From any touch-tone telephone, our clients can initiate a multi-level identification process,” said Oberholtzer.

“However access is denied unless the caller properly identifies himself with a valid Personal Identification Number (PIN).   We will be collecting (PINs) from all existing customers via a Web interface within the next month,” said Oberholtzer.

Oberholtzer confirmed VRT supports Interactive Voice Response which utilises customisable pre-recorded messages in an automatic fashion. Alarm confirmations are automated for automatic call and response.

MASterMind is integrated with Chubb’s existing telephony services. This functionality speeds up Chubb’s response times through, for example, the software's autodialing capability.  This simplifies the dispatch process, saving the operator time while preventing errors when calling account contacts.

In addition MASterMind will offer more flexibility and will have a direct impact on Chubb’s ability to deliver a superior service to their customers.  Interaction with customers alarm system via a web browser will give customers the ability to view  their alarm activation activities, inform Chubb of any changes on the premises, update schedules with regards to open and closing times and request additional services e.g. SMS functionality from their PCs or laptops.

MASterMind has been deployed in leading central stations and Fortune 500 companies around the world and is renowned for its unique redundancy, proven reliability, scalability, and high-volume processing power.

“We are committed to our customers and will continue to invest in the development of products such as MASterMind to ensure that our customers have access to the best technology available for their protection,” concluded Oberholtzer.
